Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll and Pension Specialist to join our team at Nationwide Building Society. As a key member of our People function, you will be responsible for managing the operation of our Group Personal Pension (GPP) arrangements, payment of employees' pension cash allowances, and death-in-service and GPP Incapacity Enhancement benefits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the payroll and GPP arrangements for approximately 18,500 employees and 8,000 pensioners, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Process and submit P11D/P45/P60/payslip data to HMRC accurately and within specified legislative timelines.
  • Provide guidance on payroll and pension legislation/policy changes to the team and stakeholders, promoting pension messages to members through clear and concise communication.
  • Manage the production and completion of administration processes applicable to the operation of Nationwide's GPP, death-in-service, and Incapacity Enhancement arrangements.
  • Liaise with the Retained Pensions Team and temporary workers' payroll provider to ensure pension administration processes comply with government requirements.
  • Ensure the pensions administration system is updated to reflect legislation and scheme design changes, and suitable controls are in place to meet audit requirements.
Requirements
  • Substantial payroll experience, including a strong understanding of relevant legislation and the regulatory regime.
  • Substantial pensions experience, ideally with a pensions qualification and a commitment to continued personal development.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office, with excellent Excel skills.
