Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and directing multi-disciplinary teams and collaborative working groups focused on the efficient and safe collection of Plasma for therapeutic use, in alignment with service delivery objectives.
  • Assuming the role and responsibilities of the Plasma designated MHRA Responsible Person (RP) as outlined in the Blood Safety and Quality Regulations 2005.
  • Ensuring a positive experience for donors while upholding safety standards for both donors and products, in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Meeting all key performance indicators, including donor experience, safety, and operational efficiency through inspirational leadership and effective performance management.
  • Leading initiatives for service enhancement and transformation to deliver high-quality services with optimal efficiency, consistently seeking opportunities to integrate best practices into service delivery.
  • Managing care and service standards to consistently meet public expectations and uphold the reputation of NHS Blood and Transplant in accordance with quality, risk, and governance frameworks.
  • Maintaining clinical proficiency and providing shift coverage as necessary, in accordance with operational hours, including evenings, weekends, or public holidays to support a 7-day service.

  • Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration as a Registered Nurse Adult.

Experience

  • Proven management and leadership experience in a clinical setting.
  • Successful track record in implementing change with a strong emphasis on managing and motivating teams.
  • Experience in mentorship, coaching, and presenting educational materials.
  • Understanding and knowledge of patient safety initiatives, strategies, and risk management.
  • Experience in leading clinical audits, both internal and external.
  • Ability to identify specific gaps in practice/service delivery and recommend evidence-based solutions.
  • Proficiency in Information Technology, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
