Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Consultant Gastroenterologist to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. This is a locum post to provide additional capacity for our expanding gastroenterology service.

Main Duties of the Job

The successful candidate will work alongside our established gastroenterology consultants to support the provision of outpatient services. The department offers a wide range of services with special interests in clinical nutrition, inflammatory bowel disease, and diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care and management in gastroenterology clinics and wards
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the management of patients with complex conditions
  • Develop and maintain expertise in clinical nutrition, IBD, and endoscopy
  • Supervise and educate junior doctors and other healthcare professionals
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • MRCP or equivalent qualification
  • Full GMC registration
  • CCT in Gastroenterology and GIM or within 6 months of obtaining
  • Broad experience in gastroenterology clinic and ward work
  • Meets BSG/JAG standards
