Job Title: Youth Skills Worker

Barnardo's is seeking a skilled and dedicated Youth Skills Worker to join our team. As a key member of our Family Centre, you will play a vital role in providing early help intervention for young people aged 11-19 (or up to 25 with SEND).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver evidence-based support to children and young people, demonstrating the positive impact of our Family Centre service on the 10 supporting family outcomes.
  • Organise and facilitate engaging Youth Panels, enabling young people to share their voice and influence their community and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver group-work in the centre and within local settings, including schools and community centres.
  • Advocate for young people as the point of contact in the Family Centre.
  • Develop online safety skills for young people and their families.
  • Deliver universal and targeted interventions with children, young people, and their families on a one-to-one or group basis.
  • Support volunteers and local groups, ensuring the voice of the child and young person is heard and influencing decision-making.
  • Work in partnership with the wider team, youth services, local partners, and stakeholders to ensure fully integrated service provision for older children and young people.
  • Empower and enable parents/carers to achieve better outcomes for their young people, observing and recognising developmental or behavioural concerns.
  • Work in partnership with children's services, SEND services, and other community-based services to support positive outcomes for families.
  • Commit to learning and providing age-specific support across the 0-19/25 SEND agenda, aligned with expected service outcomes.
  • Support the development of the Centre as a safe place for families to access support and information.
  • Apply safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures, recording information in a timely manner.
  • Deliver child exploitation early support education for families and local providers when needed.
  • Provide case studies to the Team Manager, celebrating success and evidencing what is needed for young people in the area.
  • Ensure a welcoming and safe space for children, young people, and families in the Family Centre.
