Role Purpose:
The primary responsibility of the Customs Compliance Specialist is to electronically fulfill the customs entry requirements for European Road Operations in response to client requests. This includes the completion of customs administration while adhering to both company policies and external customs regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviewing client documentation to ensure all necessary data sets are complete prior to initiating customs clearance, including EORI, commodity codes, tariff information, and any applicable formalities.
- Submitting customs declarations to HMRC using designated software.
- Collaborating with clients (internal and external) to gather clearance instructions and information needed for customs declarations.
- Utilizing applications such as CustomsHub and eAuth to communicate with internal stakeholders and obtain additional information as necessary.
- Submitting transit declarations to HMRC using appropriate software (export only).
- Resolving rejected entries through effective problem-solving and collaboration with relevant teams.
- Engaging proactively with the Team Leader to ensure awareness of issues or potential challenges within the team.
- Verifying the accuracy of entries and calculating VAT/DUTIES as required.
- Ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures for Customs and AEO processes.
- Directly liaising with the UK Customs Manager, supervisors, team leaders, and customs authorities as needed.
- Taking responsibility for staying informed on topics impacting the customs department.
- Exhibiting DACHSER values in daily work practices.
