The Electrical Water Engineering division is dedicated to assisting clients in managing their assets effectively. This role involves a range of responsibilities, from the design of new treatment facilities to evaluating the condition of existing equipment. Our engineers play a crucial role in supporting clients in the development of new projects or enhancements to current systems, focusing on improved performance and operational efficiency.
As part of the team, you will be responsible for specifying the necessary equipment and infrastructure to power and control pumping and treatment systems. This includes creating detailed schedules and specifications to facilitate the design of control panels and the layout of control rooms. You will also calculate cable sizes and develop ducting networks for effective cable distribution. Additionally, you will formulate control philosophies that outline operational procedures for the plants and collaborate closely with national power grids to arrange for new or upgraded power supplies. Successful candidates will work in tandem with other design disciplines, particularly mechanical engineering, to ensure seamless integration of all design components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate cable calculations, schedules, and circuit designs.
- Create lighting design plans.
- Develop details for MCC/Control Panels, including ICA specifications.
- Draft electrical specification documents.
- Utilize design software such as Amtech, Dialux, and Lighting Reality.
- Collaborate with internal and external design teams, clients, and contractors as necessary.
- Provide timely updates to both clients and internal team leaders.
Qualifications:
- Preferred: MEng in Electrical Engineering (2:1 or above, or equivalent).
- Relevant work experience is advantageous.
- Must be enthusiastic, diligent, technically skilled, and driven.
- Basic computer proficiency (Word/Excel) is essential; strong report writing skills are beneficial.
- Water-related coursework is a plus.
- Willingness to pursue professional qualifications such as IET & IMechE.
- Demonstrated interest in water-related projects.
- Ability to meet client and business expectations while considering broader financial and commercial implications.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with internal and external clients.
- Ability to structure and prioritize work effectively through teamwork.
- Capacity to work independently while maintaining initiative and focus.
