Role Overview

The Operations Director will play a critical leadership role in ensuring the smooth operation and high performance of SEN schools within their region. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic leadership and direction to headteachers and senior management teams across schools in their region.
  • Ensuring the delivery of high-quality, individualized education and care for all students in alignment with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Developing and implementing regional strategies to improve educational outcomes and student progress.
  • Managing operational and financial performance, including budget oversight, staffing, and resource allocation.
  • Ensuring compliance with SEN regulations, safeguarding policies, and health & safety protocols.
  • Fostering a positive, inclusive culture that promotes the well-being of staff and students.
  • Leading on the recruitment, retention, and professional development of school leaders and teaching staff.
  • Building relationships with local authorities, parents, and other stakeholders to enhance the reputation of the schools and secure positive outcomes for students.
  • Reporting to the senior leadership team on regional performance, providing insights, data, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven leadership experience in the education sector, within SEN or specialist schools.
  • Strong knowledge of SEN legislation, policies, and best practices.
  • Exceptional people management and team leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to drive school improvement and manage complex operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.
