Food Scientist

We're a leading manufacturer of convenience food in the UK, dedicated to making every day a little better. With a vibrant and fast-paced work environment, we employ around 13,600 colleagues across 16 manufacturing units and 17 distribution depots across the UK.
Our direct-to-store distribution network enables us to make over 10,400 daily deliveries of our own chilled and frozen produce and that of third parties. At Manton Wood, we have a team of around 1,700 colleagues, with access to a gym, restaurant, and staff shop.
Job RoleAs a Process Development Technologist, you'll be responsible for delivering process development and line trials successfully. This involves:
- Providing information to support customer and factory specifications, ensuring accurate product labelling.
- Planning, preparing, and executing process development and line trials to meet customer requirements and process improvements.
- Offering process guidance and advice to manufacturing teams to promote new practices and processes for increased efficiency.
- Monitoring and communicating process trends to ensure launch date adherence, maximum process optimisation, and effective customer communication.
- Challenging and investigating potential continuous improvement projects and facilitating relevant trials to drive process and product enhancement opportunities.
- Ensuring line trial outputs are fully documented, adhering to food safety, quality standards, and customer requirements.
We're looking for someone with a degree in food science or a related subject, plus relevant working experience in a food manufacturing environment. Essential qualifications include Level 3 Food Hygiene, Level 2 Health and Safety, HACCP Level 2, Sensory Training Level 2, and Microbiological Training Level 2.
Experience working with different computer programmes and analysing project results is also essential. Knowledge of legal labelling legislation and retailer web-based systems is desirable.
