Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated School Nurse to join our team at NHS Scotland. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in promoting the health and wellbeing of school-aged children and young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work autonomously as part of the school nursing team to promote health and wellbeing in schools.
  • Conduct health surveillance and screening to detect signs of ill health and abnormalities.
  • Support independent lifestyle choices to promote health in both the school and community setting.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care to children and young people.
  • Develop and implement health education programs to promote healthy lifestyles and prevent illness.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration.
  • Excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative.
  • Effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Evidence of further education/Continuous Professional Development.
  • Experience working within a community setting.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Knowledge of the immunisation programme for children age 5-19.
  • Awareness and understanding of child protection issues and protocol.
Contract Details

This is a part-time position, working 30 hours per week during term time.

The salary for this position will be pro-rata.

This is a fixed-term post until March 31st 2025.
