About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of HSE to join our team at Riverside. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership in health, safety, and environmental matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the HSE strategy for Riverside Property Services, aligning with Group HSE requirements and Evolve's HSE safety systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental legislation, including RIDDOR, and maintain robust HSE systems and processes.
  • Lead the HSE team to provide an excellent service to internal and external customers, and manage the Approved List of sub-contractors, suppliers, and consultants.
  • Drive continuous improvement of HSE within the business, including maintenance of the Integrated Management System of ISO 14001 and 45001.
  • Coach and develop staff to ensure they fully understand their HSE responsibilities and are competent to undertake them.
  • Ensure HSE training is provided, in line with the Training Matrix, and promote a 'safety first' HSE culture.
  • Manage, develop, and motivate the HSE team to achieve their potential, and be a critical friend to the business, providing direction and support to enable continuous improvement of HSE.
Requirements
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
  • Member of IOSH, ideally Chartered.
  • Knowledge of quality and environmental issues, asbestos, health and safety regulations, and risk assessments.
  • Ability to show initiative and propose solutions to issues identified.
  • Experience of successfully leading, managing, and motivating teams, including managing team performance.
  • Commercially aware with a focus on continuous improvement and the ability to drive change.
  • Customer-focused with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work at all levels within the business.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure, deliver to strict deadlines, and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and internal software packages.
  • Relevant environmental and/or quality management qualification, such as IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management or ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor.
