We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Practitioner to lead our residential care team in Leeds. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and support to children and young people in our care.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Management
- Lead and manage a team of residential practitioners to ensure the delivery of high-quality care and support to children and young people.
- Develop and implement care plans, conduct risk assessments, and devise support and health plans to meet the individual needs of each child.
- Care and Support
- Provide a safe, stimulating, and secure living environment that supports the day-to-day physical and emotional needs of children and young people.
- Work with professionals and communities of origin to sustain links and understand past problems.
- Nurture children's ambitions for their future and their learning, both in and out of school.
- Health and Wellbeing
- Support children and young people's emotional, mental, and physical health needs to build self-esteem.
- Provide appropriate levels of personal care for children and young people with disabilities and complex needs.
- Administration and Record-Keeping
- Ensure that all records are accurate, up-to-date, and GDPR compliant.
- Behaviour Management
- Manage complex and challenging behaviour in an assertive, restorative, and sensitive manner.
- Team Development
- Supervise and appraise staff in line with associated policies and procedures.
- Participate in recruitment, selection, induction, training, and support processes as required.
- Medication Administration
- Administer and record prescribed and other medication, and supervise others in this activity in line with Medication Policy and Procedure.
- Recent experience of working as a Senior Practitioner in a local authority or children's care home.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and internal council IT systems.
- Excellent people skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with service users, families, carers, and other members of staff and managers.
- A minimum NVQ/QCF Diploma Level 3 in Residential Care, and the QFC Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services Level 5.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- A valid Enhanced DBS on the update service.
