London Live is a dynamic broadcaster available on multiple platforms, including Freeview Channel 8, Sky 117, and Virgin 159. We deliver a vibrant mix of original entertainment, live events, and documentaries, complemented by an hour of live news each day.

Our aim is to engage a modern and urban audience, showcasing the challenges and successes of life in London. We are committed to highlighting fresh talent in both production and presentation, with all content produced in London.

This position is integral to the London Live News Team, contributing to the creation of news and current affairs content, as well as managing studio hires for external clients. You will serve as the primary contact for all technical and IT-related inquiries.

Job Purpose

This pivotal role within our News team involves both office and remote work. You will participate in all phases of production, from brainstorming story ideas to filming, interviewing, writing scripts, and editing final segments. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with some industry experience who are eager to enhance their skills. Opportunities for on-screen reporting and involvement in producing the News at Six program may also be available.

About You

  • A skilled broadcast journalist with a relevant qualification in journalism.
  • Experience in a newsroom setting with a solid understanding of media law and ethics.
  • A proactive individual with a wealth of ideas for stories and guests.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to produce video content and scripts for various media channels.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Capability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to work occasional unsociable hours for significant events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in pitching, planning, and booking guests for upcoming shows, making editorial decisions that resonate with our audience.
  • Conduct remote and in-person interviews for broadcast on television or social media.
  • Self-shoot and edit short-form content for television and social platforms using video editing software.
  • Adhere to London Live's values in all aspects of work.

Skills and Experience

  • A graduate or postgraduate qualification in journalism with a thorough understanding of media law and Ofcom regulations, with a minimum of two years of experience preferred.
  • A proven history of producing edited packages for television broadcast.
  • Highly skilled in using Premiere Pro or similar video editing software.
  • Good knowledge of London and current local news topics, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Excellent writing abilities and a solid grasp of news production processes.
  • Experience with filming using point-and-shoot or DSLR cameras and editing video content.
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for teamwork.
  • A pleasant broadcast voice or prior on-camera experience is advantageous.
