Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will undertake mammographic examinations on mobile breast screening vans under remote radiographic supervision, providing women with access to the National Health Service Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP). They will also perform mammographic examinations on symptomatic patients and undertake reception and administration duties, as well as image and data transfer.

Key Duties
  • Undertake mammographic examinations on mobile breast screening vans and symptomatic patients
  • Perform reception and administration duties, including image and data transfer
  • Work within NHSBSP guidelines and Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust Quality Management System (QMS) operating procedures
  • Participate in current shift patterns as deemed appropriate by service requirements
  • Take part in Breast Screening Quality Assurance and audit, liaising closely with the Clinical Superintendent Radiographer / Programme Manager and Quality Assurance (QA) radiographer
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess relevant qualifications, including NVQ 2 in a relevant subject, NVQ 3 in Health Care, CertHE in Mammography or Diploma in Healthcare support (level 3), and Foundation Degree. They will also have experience within a clinical environment, evidence of current CPD/attainment of competence portfolio, and working within the NHS breast screening programme.

Working Environment

The successful candidate will work within a diverse population, providing care for women who are returning to the assessment clinic who will be in an extremely anxious state of mind. They will also lead and assist other members of the mammography team in conducting departmental audits.
