Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Laboratory Supervisor to join our team at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing laboratory operations, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment, and providing technical support to students and researchers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain laboratory equipment, including furnaces, saws, and characterization equipment.
- Provide technical guidance and training to students and researchers on laboratory procedures and equipment usage.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations, and coordinate with WPI's safety officer as needed.
- Coordinate maintenance and repairs of laboratory equipment, and schedule upgrades with WPI's IT personnel.
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory inventory, supplies, and equipment.
- Collaborate with WPI's inventory control system and personnel to ensure efficient use of resources.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in materials engineering or related field, with 1-3 years of laboratory experience.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, and fabricate custom equipment as needed.
- Experience with computer software applications, including inventory management and laboratory equipment control systems.
