Position: Qualified SEN Coordinator – Further Education Institution

Join Our Team: We are looking for a dedicated and experienced SEN Coordinator to lead our efforts in providing exceptional support for students with special educational needs.

Role Overview:
The Further Education Institution is committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment. We seek a passionate leader to take on the role of SEN Coordinator, ensuring that all students receive the support they need to thrive.

Strategic Leadership:
Work closely with the Assistant Director to enhance and oversee the SEND provision, ensuring alignment with the institution's strategic goals.

Team Leadership:
Manage a skilled team dedicated to delivering Learning Support for students with special educational needs, including those who are deaf or hard of hearing.

EHCP Oversight:
Supervise the administration and provision of support for students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), including managing budgetary requirements for students with high needs.

Funding Coordination:
Assist in the management of additional support funding claims, liaising with local authorities and representing the institution in your capacity as SEN Coordinator.

Qualifications:
A minimum Level 5 teaching qualification recognized within the Further Education sector is required.

SEN Qualification:
A recognized SEN qualification or a commitment to pursue one, such as the National Award for SEN Coordination.

Experience:
Proven experience in delivering SEN teaching and learning support across a college environment.

Knowledge of SEN Code of Practice:
Familiarity with the 2014 SEN Code of Practice is essential.

Key Competencies:
  • Understanding of funding methodologies related to Learning Support.
  • Awareness of recent government initiatives concerning special educational needs.

Comprehensive Support Delivery:
Ability to provide support across the entire learning spectrum.

Commitment to Equality and Diversity:
Understanding of safeguarding principles and practices in education.

Organizational Skills:
Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a capacity to prioritize tasks effectively.

IT Skills:
Proficient in IT, including experience with database management.

Financial Management:
Experience in achieving financial targets and managing budgets effectively.
