About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gas Operations Specialist to join our team at E1 EDF Trading Ltd. As a key member of our Gas and Liquid Fuels Operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our natural gas portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily task lists related to gas physical position management, transportation logistics, and gas storage operations.
- Schedule physical gas positions at European Hubs, Borders, Entry/Exit Points, and Storages, and confirm their status.
- Liaise with Gas Traders to balance positions through spot exchanges trading and capacity auctions.
- Participate in out-of-hours trading activities based on defined triggers.
- Develop commercial skills through trading spreads across Europe.
- Optimize gas storages and interconnector flows out of hours and react to cuts/scaling notices.
- Maximize the position value of different books by identifying arbitrage trading opportunities and communicating them to the trading desk.
- Conduct daily agency services for EDF Group entities and JERA GM.
- Assist in drafting and reviewing relevant operational procedures and effectively communicate and implement them.
- Liaise with the IT desk to test and review new implemented tools.
- Train new operators.
Requirements
- Working experience in a Gas Operator role is preferred.
- Applied knowledge of energy markets, specifically UK and pan-European natural gas networks.
- Strong understanding of balancing mechanisms, day-ahead, and intraday nomination deadlines and matching.
- Experience working with major TSOs' portals, as well as Prisma, Trayport, WebICE, and EEX.
- Experience of working in a front office operations team to strict deadlines is beneficial.
- Ability to demonstrate a commercially focused attitude towards the optimization of the portfolio.
Technical Requirements
- Degree level is preferred.
- Excel and analytical skills.
- FCA qualified (ideal but not essential).
- Knowledge of additional European languages is beneficial.
- Excellent logical skills.

- Self-starter who can deliver desired responsibilities with limited oversight.
- Due to the time-critical nature of operations, must be able to work under pressure and retain attention to detail.
- Strong numerical skills.
- Good attention to details.
- Strong communicator comfortable working with traders, originators, and other stakeholders.

- Problem solver with a high level of analytical skills to resolve issues in a timely manner.
Working Hours
24/7 Shift Rotation including some on-call requirements.
