Role Overview:
As an Associate Technical Director, you will lead and manage the delivery of projects to meet time, budgetary, and SHEQ targets. You will be responsible for managing the ecological aspects of client relationships, ensuring delivery exceeds client expectations. You will take a leadership role on projects and within the team, providing direction and technical advice, and leading by example.

Key Responsibilities:
- Leading projects, particularly budgets and cashflow, attending meetings, and supporting the Team Leader in day-to-day team management.
- Providing technical quality and approval of project deliverables.
- Undertaking ecological surveys, overseeing/undertaking the analysis of results of field surveys.
- Managing and/or producing Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), impact assessments, biodiversity strategies, and other documents.
- Providing advice on ecological issues, both at an in-depth level within your area of expertise and on a broad range of issues.
- Compiling licence applications, including developing mitigation and monitoring strategies.
- Undertaking/supervising mitigation and monitoring of licensed work and liaising with statutory authorities.
- Undertaking performance management of assigned team members and providing training at staff meetings and to smaller groups of staff.
- Designing research projects and contributing to the development of best practice with respect to training and survey standards, as appropriate.
Requirements:
- Excellent commercial and project management skills for a range of project sizes.
- Detailed knowledge of ecological principles, biodiversity metrics, relevant environmental and ecological impact assessment (EcIA) legislation, policy, and guidance.
- In-depth knowledge of particular plant or animal groups and appropriate field survey skills.
- Proven track record in writing and delivering Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), writing and/or delivering Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), and Ecology Chapters for Environmental Statements which have been successfully consented.
- Proven track record in writing project and/or plan-level Habitat Regulation Assessments (HRAs).
- Proven experience of bid production for a range of projects and client interaction.
- Experience leading a team.
- Hold survey and/or mitigation/conservation licenses.
- Leads in the design and compliance of biosecurity and health and safety protocols.
- You will hold a relevant degree, ideally with a further education qualification.
- Chartered Environmentalist/Ecologist (or demonstrably approaching Chartered Ecologist).
- Full member of CIEEM.
- The ability to travel, when necessary.
