Job Title: Asset Safety Officer

As a key member of the AJW Group team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental well-being of our employees, customers, and stakeholders. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement effective health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the HS&E Officer to manage health, safety, and environmental activities, ensuring adherence to ISO 14001 & 45001 standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest health, safety, and environmental legislation, and implement necessary updates to our policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits of our HS&E systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
  • Perform HS&E inspections, report findings, and develop follow-up actions to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Assist in investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses, and provide recommendations for prevention.
  • Monitor and analyze HS&E performance data, using insights to inform decision-making and drive improvement.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on HS&E matters, ensuring that all employees are aware of their responsibilities and roles in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of risk assessments, ensuring that all necessary documentation is up-to-date and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with managers to identify and mitigate risks, and develop strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Manage and train first aid and fire safety representatives, ensuring that they are equipped to respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Coordinate fire and evacuation programs, ensuring that all employees are aware of their roles and responsibilities in the event of an emergency.
  • Assist in preparing and presenting at HS&E meetings, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged.
  • Deliver HS&E training to employees, ensuring that they have the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Review and implement contractor health and safety procedures, ensuring that all contractors are aware of our HS&E policies and procedures.
  • Benchmark and implement best HS&E practices, ensuring that our organization remains at the forefront of health, safety, and environmental excellence.
Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of recent and relevant experience in a similar role.
  • NEBOSH (General Certificate) qualified or working towards NEBOSH certificate accreditation.
  • Auditing experience.
  • COSHH Trained.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret detailed information and regulations.
  • Knowledge of current health and safety legislation, guidance, and best practice.
  • Experience in formulating, implementing, and revising HS&E policies and procedures.
  • Experience of identifying sensible and practical risk reduction measures.
  • Handling of HS&E investigations.
