Role Overview

Ecclesiastical Insurance, a proud member of the Benefact Group, is seeking a Risk Manager to enhance our Gloucester office.

In this pivotal role, you will spearhead first-line risk management within the UK General Insurance division (UKGI), providing expert advice on risk-related issues and advancing risk initiatives in alignment with the Group's risk management framework.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement the Group's risk management framework throughout UKGI, ensuring operational compliance within the established Risk Appetite.
  • Serve as a key resource for risk expertise, guiding UKGI teams in effective risk management practices, including risk identification, reporting, and control.
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive risk profile for significant risks managed by UKLT, ensuring robust risk identification and oversight.
  • Advise governance meetings, such as Risk Meeting and Customer and Conduct Council, regarding the risks under their purview.
  • Ensure the design and effectiveness of the risk management framework within UKGI.
  • Deliver clear and precise reporting on current and future risk exposures to assist risk owners in timely decision-making.
  • Lead investigations into risk incidents, collaborating with various departments to analyze data and recommend necessary changes.
  • Monitor compliance with the UKGI Risk Appetite, working with management to oversee corrective actions.
  • Continuously assess the effectiveness of control systems within UKGI, leading initiatives to address identified deficiencies.
  • Coordinate the annual compliance assessment with the Group's risk management and policy framework through the Control & Risk Self-Assessment (CRSA).
  • Build strong relationships with Group Risk, Group Compliance, and other relevant services to support risk management objectives.
  • Keep Group Risk and assurance functions informed of significant developments and plans.
  • Facilitate responses to monitoring reviews and findings, ensuring timely completion of actions and reporting progress to UKLT.
  • Prepare necessary policies, standards, training, and guidance to support the effective implementation of the risk management framework.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Proven experience in financial services risk roles; a risk management qualification is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles and best practices in the financial services sector.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and influence key stakeholders, including directors and business managers.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing capabilities.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and the ability to develop practical solutions.
  • Proactive approach with strong analytical skills, capable of addressing complex problems and aligning them with overall risk management strategies.
