We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Staffing Officer to join our team at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. As a key member of our clinical operations team, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating medical staffing for the Medicine Division at the Grange University Hospital.
Main Responsibilities- Act as the primary point of contact for all medical staff within the Medicine Division, ensuring timely and effective communication and resolution of issues.
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure safe and adequate medical cover at all times, including troubleshooting daily problems associated with clinical cover for periods of leave, sickness, and vacant posts.
- Collaborate with Consultants, Clinical Directors, and Divisional Directors to agree solutions for any unresolved gaps in on-call rotas and communicate plans to all relevant parties.
- Process and maintain accurate records of locum payments, ensuring compliance with Health Board policies and national regulations.
- Liaise with the recruitment department to facilitate the recruitment of junior and middle-grade doctors, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
- Plan, organize, and facilitate junior doctors' induction programs, ensuring compliance with Health Board policies and national terms and conditions of service.
- Develop and communicate compliant junior doctor rotas within the Division, ensuring effective communication and coordination with all relevant parties.
- Record and track doctors' sickness, annual leave, and professional leave, highlighting any impact on rota commitments and service delivery.

Requirements- Education to degree level or equivalent level of experience.
- Understanding of NHS structures, including staffing and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal with a wide range of people, including senior members of the healthcare profession.
- Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Previous medical staffing knowledge and experience at a Band 4 level, with a minimum of 12 months' experience.
- Ability to accurately and efficiently input and retrieve information on a computerized system, adhering to complex local and national policies and guidelines.
- Experience of working in a healthcare environment, with a strong understanding of NHS policies and procedures.
