Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at East Riding of Yorkshire Council. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing one-to-one support to a young adult with severe Learning Disability and spastic quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support to enable the young adult to participate in activities and engage with their community.
  • Assist with personal care, meal times, medication, and mobility needs.
  • Support the young adult to access quiet areas when feeling overwhelmed and to re-join groups when ready.
  • Encourage participation in activities such as cooking, bowling, arts and crafts, and other leisure pursuits.
  • Develop and maintain a positive relationship with the young adult, their family, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post.
  • A patient and understanding approach is essential for this role.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Arrangements

This is a part-time position, with the possibility of up to 12 hours per week. The successful candidate will be required to work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10am to 3pm.
