Job Title: Machine Shop Team Leader

A challenging opportunity for an experienced Machine Shop Team Leader from a manufacturing/engineering environment.

Ambitek Limited, a specialist recruiter in Manufacturing, Production, and Engineering sectors, is seeking a skilled Machine Shop Team Leader to join our team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supervise team members on a daily basis during normal machine shop operations in line with production planning.
  • Ensure team members have an adequate workload on a daily basis.
  • Determine the best use of manpower in the team.
  • Ensure tooling, fixtures, and relevant information are available for team members when required.
  • Identify any engineering requirements/issues and communicate with relevant departments.
  • Ensure routine maintenance is carried out as necessary.
  • Manage staff attendance and development.
  • Complete yearly PDRs for each team member.
  • Monitor and manage work attendance.
  • Identify any training requirements for team members/capability issues.
  • Conduct Start of Shift/End of Shift meetings to update SQCDP charts.
  • Operate VMC machines and other workshop equipment.
  • Set and prove out jobs, obtaining first-off job has been proved out.
  • Run milling machines after setting, ensuring quality is maintained throughout the entire production run.
  • Ensure routine machine maintenance is carried out as necessary.
  • Operate a CNC and Manual CMM machines, following instructions to run programs to check.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Machine Shop Team Leader role.
  • Completed an engineering apprenticeship.
  • Good understanding of engineering practices and methods.
  • Knowledge of powder metallurgy processes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of machining methods, particularly vertical CNC milling machines and lathes.

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, 06:00 to 14:00, or alternative shift Monday to Thursday, 13:45 to 22:25, and Friday, 13:00 to 22:00, or nights, 10:00 to 06:00, Monday to Friday. Overtime at time and a half.
