Our client is a dynamic and rapidly expanding regional main contractor with a solid reputation in the South West market and beyond, operating from their regional offices.

Typical projects include maintenance (kitchen & bathrooms, painting, roofing, internals, externals) and refurbishment initiatives across both commercial and residential sectors as part of extensive framework contracts.


Cost Estimator - The Role:
An excellent opportunity for a seasoned Cost Estimator to join the regional commercial team.

You will be tasked with supporting the daily commercial functions of one or more tenders or projects.

This role will report to a Commercial Manager and offers significant career advancement opportunities along with attractive financial benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure maximum commercial return is achieved for the project.
  • Conduct take-offs, measurements, and estimations.
  • Accurately prepare cost/value reconciliation reports.
  • Prepare and negotiate interim valuations at agreed intervals to secure the best commercial advantage for the company.
  • Finalize accounts with subcontractors to optimize project margins.
  • Ensure subcontract orders are processed in accordance with company procedures and contract schedules.
  • Maintain oversight of subcontractor accounts and minimize costs associated with variations.
  • Manage subcontractor valuations and correspondence.
  • Execute duties as a cost estimator on assigned projects.
  • Ensure maximum commercial return is achieved for the projects under your control.
  • Prepare or assist with monthly cost/value reconciliation reports, accurately forecasting the final financial position of the project.
  • Prepare turnover cash flow forecasts as directed by the line manager at the start of all projects, updating as necessary and recording actual valuations against forecasts.
Cost Estimator - The Ideal Candidate

  • Ideally possess an HND or degree.
  • Experience with either a national or regional main contractor.
  • Proven experience in delivering refurbishment or maintenance projects is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with NHF rates or other schedules of rates is desirable.
  • Innovative mindset with the ability to identify improved methods.
