Job Title: Senior Safety Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Safety Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems. As a Senior Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for providing expert advice on product safety matters to project and engineering managers, ensuring that safety considerations are correctly considered and implemented.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain safety arguments, both physical and functional, using appropriate safety analyses methods.
  2. Produce and update Design Safety Justification (DSJ) reports and safety management documentation using relevant regulations and standards.
  3. Engage with third parties to review and gather supporting evidence for DSJ reports.
  4. Line manage other safety practitioners in your team.

Requirements:

Essential:

  1. Degree level qualification in a relevant STEM subject (Engineering, Physics, Maths, Science).
  2. Broad knowledge of industry safety standards (Def Stan, IEC 61508, etc.).
  3. Demonstrable experience in safety engineering activities in the defence, maritime, or a relevant highly regulated domain.

Desirable:

  1. Good communication skills and ability to interact and manage stakeholders.
