Job Summary:

Serco Maritime is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as an Apprentice Seafarer Deck Rating. As a key member of our deck department, you will be responsible for assisting vessel crew in deck operations, learning and performing watchkeeping duties, and maintaining the safety and security of the vessel and its equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist vessel crew in deck operations, including mooring and unmooring, cargo handling, and navigation.
  • Learn and perform watchkeeping duties, including keeping a lookout and monitoring vessel systems.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the vessel, including living quarters, galley, and other areas.
  • Perform routine maintenance of vessel equipment and systems.
  • Assist in the operation of mooring winches, windlass, cranes, and other equipment.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Eligible for UK passport.
  • Capable of obtaining an ENG1 Unrestricted Medical Certificate, including eyesight examination.
  • Academic qualifications: preferred A level Mathematics or equivalent T level, minimum 4 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Mathematics, English, and Physical Based Science or equivalent qualifications from Scotland or Northern Ireland.
