Control and Functional Safety Engineer

Ocado Group is a leading technology company that is revolutionizing the retail industry. We are seeking a highly skilled Control and Functional Safety Engineer to join our team.

About Us

We provide services to partner clients globally via our innovative advanced robotics technology, known as the Ocado Smart Platform. Our teams are putting the world's retailers online using the cloud, robotics, AI, and IoT.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure products and systems meet appropriate safety and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Provide regulatory guidance and support to development teams and other key stakeholders.
  • Plan and manage compliance activities, including periodic reporting to stakeholders.
  • Conduct product safety evaluations or manage outsourced product testing and certification as required.
  • Perform and coordinate hazard and risk assessments for new product designs.
  • Compile and maintain technical files for certification and regulatory compliance.
  • Review and approve safety-related information prepared for manufacturing, end-users, and service personnel.
  • Review and prepare compliance reports for product certification, regulatory bodies, and management as required.
  • Participate in the analysis and resolution of field-related safety and compliance issues.

This role requires occasional travel to sites in the UK and potentially internationally.

Requirements
  • Technical proficiency in Mechanical and Electrical machinery safety.
  • Experience interfacing with external regulatory bodies and certification agencies.
  • Ability to support Mechanical and Electrical Design engineers in the design of appropriate safety systems and safety architecture.
  • Ability to lead task and design-based risk assessments.
  • Experience in completing EHSRs for Machinery Safety and providing a body of evidence for CE Marking and regulatory compliance.
Bonus Points
  • Knowledge of functional safety system design, including SIL/PL assessments.
  • Knowledge and experience of EMC testing and compliance.
  • Knowledge of compliance and certification requirements for Radio products.
