About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Biomedical Scientist to join our team as an Advanced Biomedical Scientist in Haematology and Coagulation. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong background in laboratory management, quality assurance, and clinical governance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the Coagulation and Haematology section and manage the daily organisation and staffing of the section.
  • Ensure the analysers are maintained correctly and undertake any troubleshooting that is required.
  • Deal with engineering visits and organise the section around planned and unplanned analytical downtime.
  • Monitor internal and external quality-control performance and initiate any remedial action required.
  • Deal with stock control and ordering of reagents and materials.
  • Write and update SOPs and staff competency logs to ensure the section remains ISO:15189 compliant.
  • Deputise for the Haematology Lead in their absence.

Person Specification
  • HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • Biomedical Science Degree or equivalent.
  • Appropriate Post Graduate qualifications IBMS Higher Specialist diploma or IBMS Diploma in Biomedical Science, Masters or equivalent or working towards.
  • Additional appropriate specialist qualification if required.
  • Evidence of CPD.
