Contract: 3 months+

Candidates must hold SC security clearance for this role.


We are seeking a Lead Systems Engineer for a prominent Engineering and Technology firm operating within the UK defence sector.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with senior client stakeholders to comprehend necessary technical capabilities and timelines across extensive Information Systems delivery programmes.
Assume a leadership role within the client-side team. Partner with client-side functional leads to formulate and implement time-sensitive organisational capability delivery increments.
Engage with delivery project teams to pinpoint opportunities for trialing innovative working methods. Capture lessons learned and integrate feedback into the approach.
Provide external support to Army HQ, Defence Digital, and the Army end customer. Align strategies with transformation initiatives occurring outside of the immediate client-side delivery team.

Essential Skills:
Proven experience in leading Enterprise-scale solution development or assessment within a defence context. Previous role as a Design Authority in a complex Systems Engineering environment.
Demonstrated experience in spearheading transformation programmes, whether in industry or client-side.
Ability to advocate for both Engineering and change initiatives.
Familiarity with architecture methodologies, standards, frameworks, and tools (preferably TOGAF/Archimate).
Experience applying ITIL within the MoD domain.
Strong understanding of Safety and Security Management practices in the MoD domain.
Hands-on experience with configuration management & baseline development throughout the lifecycle of complex programmes.
Knowledge and comprehension of Military Communications and Information Systems (CIS) and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems.
