Production Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Production Engineer to join our team at IGS Ltd. in Bedford. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective production of high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Determine manufacturing methods for new products and establish operational standards.
  • Develop and implement programs for CNC machines using CAM systems and create associated setup sheets and tooling lists.
  • Research and evaluate new machine tools, cutting tools, and processes to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Investigate and justify capital equipment purchases to support business growth.
  • Select and coordinate suitable subcontract sources, ensuring quality, price, and delivery requirements are met.
  • Train and assist engineers and other employees to improve skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience as a Production Engineer, with a strong background in precision machined metal parts.
  • Proven knowledge of metal cutting, turning, and milling/drilling processes.
  • Competency in programming CNC machine tools using CAM systems.
  • Demonstrable experience of process planning products through manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work efficiently to deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Good attention to detail and a flexible approach to work.
Education:
  • HNC in Production Engineering (essential).
  • HND in Production Engineering (desired).
