Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Exhibitions and Collections Technician to join our team at UCL Eastman Dental Institute, working four days a week. This role is integral to the Museum Services team, which is committed to providing exceptional experiences for staff, students, and external visitors through UCL's extensive cultural assets. The successful candidate will play a key role in facilitating exhibitions across various spaces, including museum and library environments, while also offering technical support for collections management.
Key Responsibilities
The role involves collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including curatorial, conservation, collections management, and engagement teams, to effectively plan and execute the logistics and technical requirements for temporary exhibitions and displays. Responsibilities include:
- Providing technical assistance in managing collections and preparing items for outward loans.
- Supporting the exhibitions team in the setup and maintenance of audiovisual and display equipment.
- Ensuring the safe handling, packing, and transportation of a diverse range of museum objects and artworks.
- Contributing to the design and production of mounts for exhibits.
- Coordinating projects to ensure timely delivery while engaging with various stakeholders.
Working Conditions
This position requires manual handling as part of the role, and appropriate training will be provided.
Flexible Working Options
We are open to considering applications for part-time, flexible, and job share arrangements where feasible.
Important Information
This is an on-campus position and is not suited for regular remote work. The appointment will adhere to UCL's Terms and Conditions of Service for Research and Professional Services Staff.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Proven experience in handling and transporting various types of museum objects and artworks.
- Practical expertise in the design and production of exhibit mounts.
- Experience in supporting exhibition delivery, including setup and maintenance of display technology.
- A history of successfully managing projects that require coordination among diverse teams.
