About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to join our team at 1st Step Solutions. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for overseeing the mechanical services delivery, health and safety, and subcontractor performance on our Life Sciences project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the mechanical services delivery team, ensuring compliance with project strategies and regulations.
  • Develop and implement project health and safety strategies, ensuring the highest consideration is given to current regulations and client requirements.
  • Manage and oversee the on-site construction team, including mechanical and external contractors.
  • Report to the Project Manager, providing weekly updates on project progress and any health and safety issues.
  • Audit supply chain works onsite, ensuring compliance with approved RAMS and project requirements.
  • Lead the management of the mechanical and electrical safe system of works.
  • Manage the project risk register and monitor the weekly look ahead plan for resource and progress.
  • Implement project QA strategies, conducting detailed quality assurance inspections of installations.
  • Coordinate the trade-to-trade handover process and manage supply chain snagging and de-snagging.
  • Audit construction installation works to ensure compliance with mechanical requirements.
  • Take ownership of mechanical issues, liaising with the client and design consultants to obtain closure and clarifications.
Requirements
  • Industry-relevant City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or above.
  • SMSTS certification.
  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Construction Manager.
  • Ability to influence and drive positive attitudes and behaviours with regards to site health and safety.
  • Experience dealing with mechanical sub-contractors.
  • IT skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.
