We appreciate your interest in a position at the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) and look forward to learning about your qualifications.
Join us in our mission to enhance safety across London.
MOPAC's primary statutory responsibility is to monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of the Metropolitan Police Service. Following the Casey Review, MOPAC established the London Policing Board to ensure transparent oversight of the MPS. This board is central to MOPAC's oversight strategy.
The individual in this role will be responsible for ensuring that MOPAC has comprehensive plans to supervise the MPS. This involves setting priorities, anticipating risks and challenges, and managing the London Policing Board.
The Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime serves as the channel through which the Mayor of London fulfills the role of Police and Crime Commissioner, guided by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. MOPAC engages in a wide array of statutory responsibilities and collaborates closely with the Mayor of London, the Deputy Mayor, and the Metropolitan Police Service to achieve the objectives that foster safer communities in London.
Key Responsibilities:- Facilitate the execution of Police and Crime Plan commitments through effective oversight of the MPS and collaboration with stakeholders, identifying and addressing challenges to achieve strategic goals for the benefit of London residents.
- Ensure that MOPAC's oversight of the MPS is both coordinated and effective by leading the team that drives and aligns activities in this area, requiring cross-MOPAC leadership and visibility.
- Collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to promote the achievement of relevant Police and Crime Plan commitments, including advocating for innovation and navigating challenges to realize strategic outcomes.
- Work alongside Evidence and Insight to monitor MPS performance, engaging with MPS colleagues to understand and influence their responses to performance challenges.
- Provide strategic management of the London Policing Board, including offering policy advice, board development, and secretariat management.
- Lead engagement with London Policing Board members and foster strong connections with broader oversight, partnership, and community engagement frameworks.
If this aligns with your career aspirations, please refer to the detailed job description for further insights.
