In the Environmental Services Division, you will be responsible for the upkeep and repair of the Council's fleet of vehicles and machinery, as well as servicing and repairing private automobiles.

As part of a dedicated team of mechanics, your duties will include conducting MOT and Taxi inspections and providing roadside assistance during breakdowns.

Adhering to health and safety regulations and ensuring that all paperwork and vehicle documentation is accurately completed is crucial.

Essential Qualifications for this Position:

  • A recognized level 3 or higher apprenticeship/qualification or substantial experience in the automotive industry.
  • Experience in repairing both modern heavy and light commercial vehicles.
  • A valid driving license (a category C license is advantageous but not mandatory).
  • Experience in providing safe roadside assistance.
  • A VOSA Certificate for the MOT inspection of Class 4 and 7 vehicles is a plus, though training may be provided for the right candidate.
  • Ability to diagnose faults in light and heavy goods vehicles.
  • Experience with complex data analysis tools.
  • Proficient in computer use, including email and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Highly motivated, capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.
