Job Title: Fleet and Driver Management Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet and Driver Management Officer to join our Transport Services Team at Wakefield Council.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with our Fleet Management team to manage fleet utilisation and driver behaviour, supporting the Council's Zero Carbon Commitment and Fleet Decarbonisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with the Fleet Management team to manage fleet utilisation and driver behaviour.
  • Assist the Service Manager in the delivery, management, and maintenance of the Council fleet.
  • Interpret, maintain, and develop regulatory performance systems in line with the requirements of the Fleet Operators Licence, Policy, and Fleet Decarbonisation.
  • Administer the online Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Operator's Licence System (VOL) and issue legal documents to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Maintain the register for all the Council's authorised drivers and the Council's Fleet; online Telematics Systems and vehicle/plant tracking units.
  • Audit, assess, and report on Council Service Fleet users to measure compliance with policy and legislation.
  • Assist in the maintenance of statutory record keeping for drivers' hours for the Council via Vision online software and liaise with Operational Managers on infringements.
Requirements
  • Educated to NVQ level 3 or equivalent relevant experience.
  • ECDL/IBT2/CLAIT Certificate or equivalent.
  • Data Protection Training.
  • Microsoft Excel advanced or willingness to train.
  • Operator Licence Awareness Training – OLAT or equivalent or willingness to train.
  • Driving Licence Cat B.
  • Knowledge of the Goods Vehicle Operators Licencing.
  • Must be able to use PC-based driver's hour's analysis equipment or willing to train.
  • Proven experience of producing complex financial analysis and reports.
  • Experience of financial systems, purchasing processes, and invoice management.
