Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Hourly Rate: £46.80

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to our client's team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in one or more specific areas of mechanical engineering, with a proven track record of applying specialist knowledge or skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conceptual Design: Develop innovative concepts and ideas for new products or components based on project requirements and specifications.
  • Detailed Design: Create detailed designs and engineering drawings using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA.
  • Prototyping: Collaborate with prototype teams to create physical prototypes of designs for testing and evaluation.
  • Analysis: Conduct analysis and simulations to assess the performance, durability, and safety of designs.
  • Material Selection: Select appropriate materials for components based on mechanical properties, cost, and manufacturing considerations.
  • Manufacturability: Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, considering factors such as ease of assembly, machining, and manufacturing processes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure design requirements are met.
  • Problem-solving: Identify and troubleshoot design issues that arise during development, testing, or production, and propose solutions.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation including drawings, specifications, and engineering change orders.
  • Compliance: Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and quality requirements.
  • Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities to reduce costs through design optimization and value engineering.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement efforts to enhance product quality and efficiency.
  • Project Management: Manage design projects from conception to completion, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and external partners to coordinate activities and ensure project objectives are met.
  • Training and Development: Stay updated on advances in mechanical engineering technology and techniques, and participate in training and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
