About the Role

BAM Nuttall is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team, delivering large civil engineering projects across Scotland. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with Company policy
  • Develop and maintain effective communication with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Provide commercial contact with supply chain partners through pre-contract meetings, contract vetting, and input to subcontract documents
  • Commercially manage subcontractors, including payments preparation, final account work, and monitoring cost of site resources
  • Contribute to monthly cost and value reports, including risk management, quarterly reports, and presentations to senior management
  • Provide commercial input to project strategy and participate in discussions concerning project performance
  • Understand and promote the use of Company Procedures
  • Assist in change management and ensure timely production of applications for payments
  • Attend and contribute to site meetings and manage time and workloads for yourself and the commercial team in a structured manner
Requirements
  • Successful experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor with a minimum of 1-2 years' experience working for tier 1 contractors
  • Understanding of basic contract law and contractual obligations
  • Member of a Professional Institution or working towards application of the ICES, or similar
  • Open and collaborative approach, willing to help and assist those around you
  • Educated to Degree level in a relevant Commercial, Construction, or Project Management qualification (preferred but not essential)
