Accounts Assistant Opportunity

A dynamic and varied role has become available with a thriving business in Thirsk, seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their fast-paced team.

This position encompasses a range of responsibilities, including:

  • Purchase ledger processing and account reconciliation
  • Weekly payroll processing for 70+ employees
  • Managing high volumes of data on a weekly basis
  • Preparing weekly and monthly payment runs via BACS
  • Assisting with month and year-end accounting
  • Processing simple accounts journals for regular non-ledger transactions and other basic bookkeeping tasks
  • Acting as a point of contact for customers, clients, or suppliers via email and phone.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills, administrative proficiency, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Key requirements include:

  • Confidence in communicating effectively and accurately with a wide range of individuals, from senior management to customers and suppliers
  • Proficiency in computer programs, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to use basic accounting software (experience with Sage Payroll and Microsoft AX desirable but not essential, with full training provided)
  • Professional and flexible approach and attitude
  • Understanding of responsibilities regarding confidentiality
  • Prioritizing own workload
  • Working in close liaison and support with other team members, including providing cover when required
  • Additional duties at a comparable level of responsibility may be allocated to the post/post holder
