Job Title: Warehouse Shift Manager

Location: Gist Warehouse

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Warehouse Shift Manager to join our team at Gist. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of day-to-day warehouse operations, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the recruitment and induction process for new colleagues within the warehouse department.
  • Conduct daily administration tasks related to payroll systems, payroll queries, and holidays.
  • Drive shift performance to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Forward plan operations and deliver plans in line with live volumes and resources.
  • Ensure all requirements related to safety, health, environment, and quality are fully implemented in the warehouse.
  • Maintain a safe and friendly working environment for all employees, agency staff, and subcontractors.
  • Manage direct reports, including wellbeing meetings, long-term sick management, return to work, and disciplinaries.
  • Collaborate with third-party agencies to ensure appropriate resourcing of operations.
  • Review plans and system maintenance in line with live volumes.
  • Identify and review training and development needs frequently.
  • Plan and organize operational, people, and safety meetings.
  • Investigate and report accidents.
  • Conduct hazard walks and observations.
  • Improve performance levels to maximize efficiency of operations in line with account KPIs.

Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge and hands-on experience of a warehouse function within the FMCG distribution industry.
  • A passion for encouraging teamwork and creating an innovative culture where all employees can voice their suggestions and ideas.
  • Excellent team management skills for developing team leaders.
  • An analytical mindset.
  • Flexibility to cover a variety of shift patterns in the future.
  • Previous experience with trade unions is beneficial.
