Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in ensuring our patients receive the best possible care.

Main Duties
  • Assist patients with ophthalmic imaging and diagnostics, including visual fields tests, visual acuity tests, and OCT.
  • Provide support to patients in clinic who may be elderly or visually impaired.
  • Record physical measurements, including accurate visual acuity, height, and weight, and vital signs.
  • Work efficiently and proactively to ensure the clinic runs smoothly.
  • Contribute to a rota with a variety of shifts, including some weekend working.
  • Part-time applications are welcome.

Person Specification

We are looking for individuals who possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and who are able to work effectively in a team environment. You will also need to have a strong background in customer service and patient care, and be able to demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality services.

Essential criteria include GCSE maths and English grade 4-9 or grade C or above, or level 2 functional skills in maths and English. Desirable criteria include a level 3 QCF diploma in healthcare or NVQ level 3, and previous experience of working in a healthcare or related setting.
