Job Title: Behaviour Mentor

We are seeking an experienced Behaviour Mentor to join our team at an alternative provision school in Liverpool. The successful candidate will provide dedicated support to our secondary students who have previously struggled in mainstream schools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 support to students who require additional help to stay engaged and motivated in their learning.
  • Utilize your experience working with students who have special educational needs and challenging behaviour to develop effective strategies for support.
  • Apply your understanding of trauma-informed practices to create a safe and nurturing environment for students to thrive.
  • De-escalate potential conflicts and challenging situations calmly and professionally, ensuring the well-being of all students and staff.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to help them feel comfortable and supported in their learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure comprehensive support for each student.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized learning plans tailored to each student's needs.
Essential Requirements:
  • Proven experience working with secondary students in PRU settings or similar environments.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with behavioural issues and trauma.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use initiative and adapt to the needs of each student.
  • Resilience, patience, and a positive attitude towards overcoming challenges.

The ideal candidate will be able to work well in high-pressure situations and have a strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with previous trauma. The school is committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment where every student can thrive.
