Audit and Accounts Supervisor

Levitate Recruitment, a leading accountancy and insolvency recruitment specialist, is seeking a highly skilled Audit and Accounts Supervisor to join a prestigious Preston-based firm of Accountants. This exciting opportunity will allow you to leverage your expertise in auditing standards and accounts preparation to drive business growth and excellence.
The Corporate team provides a wide range of business support services to individuals and businesses across various sectors, including not-for-profit, academies, professional practices, manufacturing, leisure, and tourism. As an Audit and Accounts Supervisor, you will play a key role in supporting client managers, coordinating compliance service delivery, and ensuring deadlines are met efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting client managers in coordinating compliance service delivery and ensuring deadlines are met
- Maintaining regular contact with clients and other professional contacts, developing relationships, and spotting opportunities to add value
- Assisting in arranging, preparing for, and attending planning and completion meetings with clients
- Managing audit teams on site, working on various assignments, and ensuring they are completed on time and within budget
- Reviewing assignment work and reporting to senior management within the team as appropriate
- Providing support to junior members of staff and assisting them in achieving professional competencies
- Completing and supervising specialist audits under various client money regulations, grant funding schemes, and other regulatory requirements
- Performing internal audits for clients under an outsourced role
- Providing accounting support to various clients by preparing management accounts, VAT returns, and undertaking ad-hoc projects
- Preparing individual and group statutory accounts under UK GAAP, including FRS102 for limited companies, LLP's, partnerships, and sole traders
- Preparing corporation tax, partnership tax, and business tax computations
- Managing own fee targets, monitoring WIP, and billing, in addition to managing own time
- Preparing and presenting reports and other documentation for clients

Requirements:
- Recent ACA qualification (or similar)
- Sound technical knowledge and experience of auditing standards and experience of a wide range of audit and accounts clients
- Experience of preparing accounts for various entities
- Experience of supervising assignment teams and providing feedback and training to individuals
- Sound technical knowledge of tax principles
- Effective communication skills with clients, contacts, and fellow team members
- Strong commercial awareness
- Great attention to detail
- Solutions-focused
- Demonstrated flexibility in working practices to support client needs
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft packages, accounts production, audit, and corporation tax software, Sage Line 50, and cloud-based accounting software
