Job Title: Statutory Accountant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Statutory Accountant to join our team at Lawes Group Recruitment. As a key member of our Finance Division, you will be responsible for preparing statutory accounts, month-end reporting, and liaising with auditors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Statutory Financial Reporting: Prepare and submit statutory financial statements across 15 entities in compliance with UK GAAP.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements, tax regulations, and accounting standards.
  • Tax and Regulatory Filings: Assist in the preparation of tax returns and other regulatory filings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Support the Finance team with the monthly management accounts, undertaking lease accounting, bad debt provision, and similar calculations.
  • Cash Flow Management: Produce monthly P&L and Balance Sheet for deadline submission to the Head Office finance department.
  • Financial Reconciliation: Ensure key Balance Sheet accounts reconcile during the Month-end process.
  • Financial Query Resolution: Deal with financial queries as and when raised from both within the UK and US.
  • Audit Liaison: Liaise with both Internal and External Audit for mid-year and year-end group and statutory audits.
  • Process Improvement: Monitor and analyze financial data to identify areas for process improvement and enhance efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Liaise with internal stakeholders, including finance, legal, and tax teams, to ensure compliance and accurate financial reporting.
  • Professional Development: Actively seek to develop oneself and take responsibility for your own training and development.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) with significant experience in statutory accounting and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Thorough knowledge of UK GAAP or IFRS and experience in preparing statutory financial statements. Strong understanding of tax regulations and compliance requirements. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record keeping and reporting. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data. Good Excel skills. Excellent communication skills.
  • Personal Qualities: Hard working and conscientious approach. Ability to build firm working relationships with staff and management. Approachable and co-operative.
