About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our team at AKT II in Cambridge. As a key member of our design-led company, you will work on a wide range of projects, both in the UK and internationally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead specialist structural engineering design projects across various sectors, including commercial, health, and retail.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality designs and specifications.
  • Ensure the coordination of design and detailing work, managing projects and associated resources.
  • Conduct structural surveys and provide expert advice on building issues.
  • Prepare detailed design calculations and drawings, adhering to British Standards and Eurocodes.
  • Interpret client briefs and develop designs from scheme to detail.
  • Investigate solutions, communicate design ideas, and prepare construction information.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
  • Support the team leader in facilitating meetings and CPD training events.
Requirements
  • Good degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer status (IStructE or ICE or equivalent).
  • At least 5 years of experience in Structural Engineering.
  • Strong analytical knowledge and understanding of engineering principles.
  • Ability to design and deliver structural solutions on complex projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in design and analysis software.
  • Exceptional understanding of CDM Regulations and designers' responsibilities.
