Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and caring nurse to join our well-established regional neuro oncology nursing team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Neuro Oncology. This is a fixed-term position of 12 months, covering maternity leave, and will ideally commence on October 1, 2024.

Main Duties of the Job

The role of the Clinical Nurse Specialist in Neuro Oncology combines the two aspects of neurosurgical and oncological nursing, requiring a multi-faceted approach to patient care. The post holder will be responsible for supporting, advising, and managing a caseload of patients with brain and spine tumors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting inpatients and running nurse-led clinics to support the consultant's workload and provide continuity of care for patients with brain tumors in the outpatient setting.
  • Demonstrating a high level of clinical decision-making and an ability to monitor and improve standards of care within the Neuro Oncology Service.
  • Collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive patient-focused service.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have a BSc or working towards a specialist qualification in Neuroscience/Oncological nursing, as well as a teaching qualification. They will also have significant experience in neurosurgical and or cancer nursing, and possess excellent IT skills.
