Science Teacher Opportunity at St Augustine Academy

We are seeking an enthusiastic and engaging Science Teacher to join our well-established and friendly team of specialist teachers. The successful candidate will have experience in teaching students of all abilities and supporting them to reach their academic potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach Science to KS3 and KS4 students in ability sets
  • Deliver high-quality lessons in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
  • Contribute to the development of a comprehensive scheme of work and shared resources
  • Participate in CPD opportunities and contribute to the department's professional development
  • Take on pastoral responsibilities for a Mentor group and contribute to the school's pastoral care

We are a very well-resourced department in terms of experience, equipment, and shared teaching resources. Each member of staff is provided with a staff laptop, and each teacher within the science department has a visualiser. We have 6 modern spacious laboratories, and one science theory classroom, serviced by one modern prep room with two experienced technicians. As a school we have 3 bookable computer rooms which we can use for our lessons. Currently each teacher is based in one laboratory, and has responsibility for this space. As a department we value CPD opportunities and have sent staff on a variety of CPD courses, including residential courses at the National STEM Centre in York.

This role is suitable for ECT Graduates and offers a great opportunity for career development and growth.
