Vacancy for Digital Innovation Specialist at Lancaster University

Job Summary:

We are seeking a technically experienced and proactive individual to join our Library Digital Innovation team as a Digital Inclusion Specialist. The successful candidate will work with library staff and other stakeholders to define requirements for digital services, and use their advanced technical skills to build new digital services and system integrations, and develop and maintain existing services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define requirements for digital services and work with stakeholders to implement them.
  • Develop and maintain existing digital services and system integrations.
  • Work with library staff and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for digital innovation.
  • Develop and implement containerized applications and manage container orchestration platforms.
  • Collaborate with technical colleagues in the Digital Innovation team and in the University's IT department (ISS) to ensure seamless integration of digital services.

Requirements:

  • Excellent digital development skills, with experience of modern full-stack web application and API development.
  • User interface development skills and experience of developing and maintaining operational services.
  • Experience of managing digital systems used in academic libraries.
  • Experience of developing containerized applications and managing container orchestration platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work with library staff who do not have a technical background.
