Job Title: Environmental and Recycling Lead

Thames Water is seeking an experienced Environmental and Recycling Lead to join our Corporate Sustainability and Environmental team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring our waste-to-product strategy aligns with our Corporate Social Responsibility and environmental commitments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement waste-to-product strategies that meet environmental laws and regulations.
  • Oversee equipment repurposing for local community organizations and developing countries.
  • Establish eco-friendly methods for disposing of waste materials.
  • Manage our internal 'freecycle' operation, 'Green Tag,' to promote reuse and recycling across the business.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver operational and financial efficiencies.
  • Ensure Thames Water meets its Duty of Care obligations regarding waste produced from operations.
  • Support the Contract Management Team in ensuring waste management companies provide compliant services.
  • Develop and implement projects to reduce waste generation and increase recycling rates.
Requirements:
  • Relevant experience in environmental and/or materials recycling or repurposing within an operational industry.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM).
  • Technical knowledge of Waste Management and Environmental Legislation.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes of practice and guidance documents.
  • Able to undertake waste classification, duty of care audits, and site inspections.
  • Knowledge of current issues in the recycling market.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Driver's license for the UK and access to a vehicle for business use.

  • Competitive salary between £53,000 and £60,000 per annum.
