The ideal candidate will be driven, passionate, and possess outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities. Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Utilize advanced knowledge in sexual health and HIV to independently manage comprehensive care episodes within your professional scope.
- Provide expert clinical guidance and serve as a role model for nursing staff, promoting advanced practice standards.
- Administer medications in accordance with established protocols or as a Non-Medical Prescriber for patients requiring sexual health and contraceptive services.
- Engage in evidence-based practice and contribute to research initiatives, ensuring that clinical care standards are developed, implemented, and regularly reviewed.
- Collaborate with Lead Nurses for professional support and guidance.
- Work alongside Lead Nurses, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, and Clinic Managers to develop relevant guidelines and protocols for sexual health and contraception.
Managerial Duties
- Assist the Clinic Manager in overseeing daily operations of the nursing staff in their absence.
- Participate in the clinic's business planning, ensuring alignment with the Nursing Strategy and effective communication within the nursing team.
- Ensure efficient utilization of departmental resources and budget.
- Monitor departmental activities, particularly in Young People's, Outreach, and Contraception Services, through audits and other evaluation methods, leading actions based on findings.
- Provide recommendations on the composition and skill mix of the nursing team, considering advancements in practice roles.
Educational and Research Responsibilities
- Mentor and guide new staff members and students, including those in family planning.
- Support the professional development of team members in their educational roles.
- Collaborate with the Clinic Manager and Advanced Nurse Practitioners on research initiatives.
- Ensure access to clinical supervision within the Trust.
- Foster a conducive learning environment for staff and learners, participating in educational initiatives as needed.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain supportive and informative communication with patients and their families, ensuring confidentiality.
- Take responsibility for personal professional development and keep clinical skills current.
- Adhere to the Nursing & Midwifery Council's Code of Professional Conduct.
- Recognize clinical and professional limitations, seeking guidance from senior colleagues when necessary.
Financial and Business Responsibilities
- Contribute to the business planning process, ensuring relevant aspects of the Nursing Strategy are integrated and communicated within the nursing team.
- Collaborate with the Clinic Manager and Heads of Department to review the budget and identify cost pressures and service developments at year-end, which will inform the business planning cycle.
