About the Role

GSL Education is seeking passionate graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, or Education Studies to join a specialist school as Learning Support Assistants (LSA). This is a fantastic opportunity to work with children who have an EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) for a variety of conditions, including trauma, ADHD, ADD, OCD, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

This role is ideal for graduates aiming to gain practical experience in fields such as Clinical Psychology, Advocacy, Youth/Social Justice, or Education. You'll have the chance to work closely with students, helping them navigate their mental health and learning challenges, while gaining invaluable experience in the process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build Trusting Relationships with students using a restorative approach.
  • Support Students with Complex Needs by providing emotional and behavioural support.
  • Help Students Achieve Their Potential by assisting in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Work Collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to ensure each student receives the necessary care and guidance.
  • Work with a Large Provision of Students aged 5-16, with a focus on providing individualized support.
Key Requirements
  • A degree in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, or Education Studies.
  • A sincere passion for working with children who have special educational needs.
  • The ability to build strong, comfort-based relationships with students.
  • A genuine interest in understanding the challenges faced by young people with mental health and trauma issues.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Resilience and adaptability to deal with a variety of emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • A Clear Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce/ Child and Adult Workforce) registered to the Update Service.
