Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Consultant Anaesthetist to join our team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our anaesthetic department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading clinical teams, and contributing to the development of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Leadership: Provide clinical supervision and guidance to junior medical staff, working collaboratively with other consultant colleagues to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
  • Service Development: Take an active role in the formulation, implementation, and monitoring of our department's business plan, ensuring alignment with Trust objectives.
  • Infection Prevention and Control: Be aware of and comply with all Trust policies and procedures related to infection prevention and control, ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Code of Practice: Be accountable for the implementation of the Code of Practice within your department/area of responsibility, promoting a culture of excellence and professionalism.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Full registration with the GMC and completion of a subspecialty training program in anaesthesia.
  • Experience: Wide experience in delivering anaesthesia for general, major/high-risk surgery, and trauma/CEPOD surgery, as well as experience in high-risk obstetrics, pre-assessment, and perioperative medicine.
  • Additional Qualifications: Additional training or fellowships in specialist areas, such as Perioperative Medicine, Trauma Sciences, or Regional Anaesthesia.
Desirable Skills
  • Leadership and Management: Experience in day-to-day organization of anaesthetic services in a busy teaching hospital, with a thorough understanding of the current structure of the Health Service and recent initiatives.
  • Teaching and Research: Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, exam preparation, and clinical research, with a strong understanding of principles of medical audit and experience in undertaking and completing audit projects and QIPs.
